“It was quite extraordinary, it was very surreal, because you came, and it was like a room for you, it was all for you.”- Josephine Halbert, on visiting The LYC Museum as a child

This BBC Radio program investigates the life and legacy of artist Li Yuan-Chia and The LYC Museum. Guided by Nick Sawyer, the man who initially brought Li to Cumbria in 1971, Sally Lai explores the building where for 10 years housed Li’s museum and school. Through interviews with artists who have shown works there (like David Nash), acquaintances and neighbors who lived nearby, and even people who spent time there as children, Lai explores Li’s experimental museum and the lasting impact of this special place outside the British art establishment.
