アントン・ケンスト（1987年コネチカット州ニューヘブン生まれ）は現在ニューヨークのブルックリンを拠点に活動している。2011年にカリフォルニア州バレンシアのカリフォルニア芸術大学を卒業し、2014年にニューヘイブンのエールスクールオブアートでMFAの経て、ニューヨークを拠点に活動する彼は東洋哲学への情熱を持ちながら近代美術史に深く根ざし、絵画、彫刻、グリフタブレットを用いて、光の中の体験や日常の瞬間に潜む可能性を描き出します。神話や民俗的なイメージの作品は、日常の儀式に見出される力を表現しています。公園での日々の散歩、月へのバラード、信仰へのオードなどの回想を通して、ケンストは平凡な日常が実は最も魅力的であることを私たちと共有しています。ケルンストのアプローチは、まず「言葉」から始まります。曲芸師、猿、ヤギなど、個人的なきっかけで、あるイメージが彼の心に残ります。アーカイブの資料やポップカルチャーの参照から得る、時には陳腐なイメージはケンストの活動における様々な媒体に合うように変更また再構築されています。

2018年、ケンストはソクラテス・スカルプチャー・パーク　エマージング・アーティスト・フェローシップを受賞、2017年にレマ・ホート・マン財団のエマージング・アーティスト助成金、2014年にフランス・パリにてエタ・ユニオン財団のフェローシップを受賞しています。近年の個展・二人展に「Cuttings」Marianne Boesky Gallery, NY(2022), 「Dear Future」Marianne Boesky Gallery, Aspen, CO(2021), 「Love Dove」Public Art Commission, Lighthouse Works, Fishers Island, NY(2020), 「Casual Magic」Each Modern, Taipei, Taiwanなど。X Museum（北京、中国）、George Perez Collection（フロリダ、アメリカ）のコレクションで彼の作品を見ることができます。

Antone Könst (b. New Haven, Connecticut 1987) currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from The California Institute for the Arts, Valencia, CA in 2011 and received his MFA from the Yale School of Art, New Haven in 2014. The New York-based artist uses painting, sculpture, and glyphic tablets to depict experiences in light, and the latent potential within everyday moments, with deep roots in modern art history and a passion for oriental philosophy. These works of mythic and folk images come to represent the power found in quotidian rituals. Through recollections of daily walks in a park, a ballad to the moon, or odes to faith, Könst shares with us the aspects of the banal that are in fact the most captivating. Könst’s approach begins with a trope. Compelled on some personal level, an image sticks with him; a juggler, a monkey, a goat. The familiar and at times cliché images, which are informed by archival sources and pop culture references, are altered and reimagined to suit the variety of mediums in Könst’s practice.

In 2018, Könst received the Socrates Sculpture Park Emerging Artist Fellowship. He received the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Grant in 2017 and the Fondation des Etats-Unis Fellowship. Paris, France in 2014. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include ‘Cuttings’ at Marianne Boesky Gallery, NY(2022); ‘Dear Future’ at Marianne Boesky Gallery, Aspen, CO(2021); ‘Love Dove’, Public Art Commission, Lighthouse Works, Fishers Island, NY(2020) and ‘Casual Magic’ at Each Modern, Taipei, Taiwan.
