Xu Jiong: Petals, Lost and Lucid
許炯:從我到我是一場落英繽紛 19 Sep - 19 Oct 2025是書是畫 蝶戀花 許炯,我和他認識甚早。回憶初識,還真想不起來是哪年何日。就如同早起時,會去的豆漿店;常去的巷口小舘和咖啡店,誰會記得第一次上門是哪年哪月? 來北京,我總會邀許炯來罐子書屋聊聊;五年前,他在這裡辦過個展,一晃五年過去了!不過經歷口罩時期的他有了不少改變;行萬里路遊歷名山古寺,是他這幾年生活重要的履歷,因此我邀他再次來罐子書屋辦展。因為,我也想看看他現在的作品。 以書法線條入畫,一直是許炯創作的特色。有點像米的狂草,又有點像日本良寬和尚的蚯蚓體,是書是畫,似乎都可以。 這次許炯展出作品,以花為概念。中國詩詞史 有個「蝶戀花」的詞牌名,它源於梁簡文帝的詩句。格式為雙調、六十字,上下片各四仄韻,一韻到底。並在宋代興盛,如蘇軾、歐陽修都有著名的蝶戀花詩詞傳世。 花褪殘紅青杏小。燕子飛時,綠水人家繞。枝上柳綿吹又少,天涯何處無芳草。 這是東坡先生的「蝶戀花」詞句。 至於許炯的蝶戀花。我忽然想到「花若盛開,蝴蝶白來」;雖然有點俗氣,但不就是隔壁巷口小館的煙火氣。 如果要給許炯的是書是畫作品,命個名。我真覺得「蝶戀花」體很適合。流暢的線條,一如蝴蝶飛舞,尋尋覓覓,自由自在,無比的輕盈;但面對殘紅褪盡,春意闌珊的景色,又惋惜韶光流逝。這一得一失、在朝在野,不就是中國歷代文人一生創作的基因。 或許我們從此,就稱許炯這種是書是畫的創作,為「蝶戀花」吧! 太乃 寫於2025年9月10日Read more -

Each Modern and Nanjo Art Museum are pleased to announce Lin YiHsuan's "The Sun’s Pencil" and Xu Jiong's "HOME" will be held simultaneously from June 25. The two artists obtained new inspiration from landscapes, culture, and daily life during the residency and accumulated fresh presentation both organically and spiritually. -

許炯:山水 2022 SS 30 Aug - 1 Oct 2022Each Modern 亞紀畫廊很高興宣布舉辦許炯的最新個展「山水 2022 SS」。2019年,許炯在亞紀畫廊的個展「自畫像」是他創作的重要轉折點。在該展覽中,許炯首次嘗試以壓克力顏料表現書寫和抽象,並在之後發展到複合媒材的使用,也首次運用了拼貼的方法。除了技法的拓展之外,他對山水的前衛詮釋也延續至了本次展覽,數十件的新作呈現許炯近年來不斷顛覆框架的「山水畫」和其身處的「環境」。Read more
Each Modern is pleased to announce Xu Jiong’s latest solo exhibition “ShanShui 2022 SS.” In 2019, Xu’s solo show “Self-portrait” at Each Modern was a turning point. He used acrylic to create calligraphy and abstraction for the first time and extended his mediums to mixed media and collaging. Besides the methods, Xu continues his pioneer interpretation of “ShanShui (landscape; Shan: mountain, Shui: water)” to “ShanShui 2022 SS,” presenting how he reacts and overthrows the image of “ShanShui” and its surrounding. -

This exhibition presents Xu Jiong's significant works from 2014 to 2018, among which many works of Spring Monster are exhibited for the first time. The roots of Xu’s calligraphic revival are deep and varied. These early works show Xu mining various sources and traditions, from Liangkuan, Jia Dao, to Dong Qichang, and experimenting with a range of new format. His gentle and wild touch, unexpected patterns that evoke the possibilities of oriental media as pop art and pop culture. It is in these works that one sees the elements essential to Xu’s practice today. As this exhibition makes clear, Xu is a sophisticated visual thinker endlessly fascinated with the process and history of painting. -
